OPEN DOOR SERIES: The Muatas & Special Guests

Hook & Ladder Presents Open Door Concert Series: A concert series for everyone. No barrier to entry. An open door to all.

2022 American Composer’s Award recipients, “The Muatas” are a Minneapolis based duo formed in early 2019 who were voted by The Current (89.3FM) in March of 2022 as one of the best 10 bands to turn up, following the release of the single and title track from their 3rd album, “Battle Weary”. Their sound is highly emotive at times, with lots of minor chords and dark ambient undertones, with soul-stirring melodies that linger. All that, coupled with hauntingly shadowy guitar makes for an interesting blend of post-punk, trip-hop, and electronic. The band is comprised of partners Cam Muata (guitar, vocals, synths) and Ayanna Muata (keyboards/synths, vocals, bass guitar) both former members of the band “Cold Front” (1990-1991) Their single, “Something is Happening” was recognized by Punk Black as one of thirty singles by BIPOC artists that “Kicked Ass” in 2022, and they are currently working on their 4th album release due in late 2024.

*21+ Wristbands allow patrons to order/consume alcoholic beverages.
