Roots, Rock & Deep Blues Presents
A Juke Joint Sunday Night
The Burnside Kimbrough Experience
with guest Mike Gunther
Join us for a Deep Blues Party featuring The Burnside Kimbrough Experience (Kinney Kimbrough • Robert Kimbrough Sr. • Kent Burnside • Garry Burnside • Duwayne Burnside)
with additional music provided by Mike Gunther.
Founded to honor the memories and legacies of their family patriarchs and music mentors RL Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, The Burnside Kimbrough Experience is a new blues supergroup and an experience like no other.
Comprised entirely of members of the Burnside and Kimbrough families, The Burnside Kimbrough Experience is a five-piece powerhouse party band of brothers who mine the rich catalogues of the famous fathers and offer a few fine songs of their own, along with a handful of Delta Blues classics and other choice surprises.
Musically, they combine the inherited Hill Country Blues of RL Burnside and the trademark Cotton Patch Soul Blues of Junior Kimbrough with other influences to create a unique, powerful, and authentic sound.
And with nearly two hundred years of combined experience playing with their fathers’ bands and their own bands, as well as the likes of the North Mississippi Allstars , Kenny Brown, Robert Finley, Hank Williams Jr., and too many more to mention, The Burnside Kimbrough Experience are seasoned professionals with a deep catalogue of blues and blues/rock classics, and more…more than enough to satisfy any listener, and guaranteed to please the Hook & Ladder audience.
Mike Gunther’s primitive and patently American music melds fiery lyricism and unusual instrumentation with traditional elements of country, blues, gospel and soul.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
