Big Star’s ‘Radio City’ at 50
50th Anniversary Tribute to Radio City Big Star
A concert recreation of the legendary album Radio City, plus a second set with more Big Star songs and a special tribute to Chris Bell’s solo work.
An all-star lineup of local musicians will celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the album Radio City, released by Big Star in 1974. The Memphis-based band was underappreciated at the time, but is now considered one of the most important bands in rock and roll history. Artists such as The Replacements (“Alex Chilton”), the Jayhawks (“Big Star”), Counting Crows, and REM all sang the praises of the Alex Chilton-led band.
