EVENT DESCRIPTION
Barley Jacks
w/ guest Blue Hazard
The Barley Jacks are jaw–dropping instrumentalists and longtime masters of the fiddle, guitar, bass and drum who meld their divergent backgrounds of blues and bluegrass, Celtic, R & B and bebop to inspire each other and create something entirely new. They’ve been met with great praise by reviewers. Virtuosity, magic and a little danger combine to make every performance unique.
The Minnesota-based group is comprised of front–man Brian Wicklund on fiddle and mandolin, Mike Cramer on guitar, Kevin Rowe on bass, and Joel Arpin on percussion.
The Minnesota-based group Blue Hazzard supports a traditional bluegrass composition (banjo, mandolin, guitar, and upright bass) but strives to break the bonds that are typical or expected. All members write music that leads to a diverse original catalog of bluegrass, roots, Americana, pop, jazz, and folk.
With a relentless desire to make an emotional connection with their audience, Blue Hazard mixes their love of contemporary mediums with old-soul roots to create an impactful musical experience. Evolving from a novice family band into dedicated and earnest musicians, the group impresses listeners with their crisp harmonies, complex arrangements, and honest & diverse songwriting.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
