Leaving six studio albums in their path\, they have been reinventing their music with every record. Spit from the heart of America’s Rust Belt\, arising from a night of flophouse violence. Drifting across the states\, they cemented their sound in Portland\, OR and later in Los Angeles\, CA\, where they lived in abandoned buildings\, squatter camps\, storage units and shoebox apartments. In 2007\, they left everything behind and spent the next four years living out of whatever vehicle would get them to the next town. Building upon their original sound of twanged-out\, punk rock “gutterbilly” (Life of Sin 2004 and Gutterbillyblues 2007)\, they began picking up stray musicians along the way and adding to their sound; washboard\, accordion\, mandolin and banjo (Ghost of th’ Rails 2009 and 7 Devils 2011) creating a sound referred to as “hobocore”\, “gypsy-punk” or “americana-punk”\, while never being stuck in any one sound. Local favorites Famous Volcanoes (who released their debut album at the same place with the same lineup last spring) round out the bill. \n—\nMinneapolis-based indie rock band The Long Honeymoon has been filling venues and exciting fans for nearly 3 years with their high-energy shows\, featuring original songs with their signature multi-part harmonies\, deft arrangements and tight grooves. Its members\, veterans of a variety of beloved Twin Cities’ bands (The Humbugs\, Lee Rude\, Atomic Flea\, The Bazillions\, Charlie Bucket\, and The Radio Spares)\, combine a deep love of classic pop-rock with a modern sound and joyous spirit.\n \n\n“The World is Waiting\,” the band’s debut album\, released in October of 2025\, contains 11 original songs that have been road-tested over the past several years at bars\, outdoor venues\, and breweries. The now five piece Minneapolis band\, featuring Tyler Steinley\, Andy Bauer\, Seamus St. Clair\, and Dante DeGrazia\, just released their new single and video\, “Ferdy”. The band is set to release their sophomore album\, “Hollywood Smile”\, in December 2023. Hollywood Smile sees the band ditching the hazy dream pop stylings of their debut album and dipping their toes into the waters of Rock and Roll and Americana for the very first time. They will be celebrating the release at First Avenue’s 7th street Entry on February 2 and touring the US in support of the record throughout 2024.

Featuring all original jazz compositions in a variety of styles and folk/fusion openers\, this show has a little bit of something for everybody.—Dakota Andersen is a vocalist\, songwriter\, arranger\, and educator based in Minneapolis. A newcomer to the Twin Cities\, he is quickly becoming established in the jazz scene with performances at Jazz Central Studios\, Aster Cafe\, The Lexington\, MetroNOME Brewery\, Hook and Ladder\, and Resource. Most recently\, he released his debut album of 10 original songs entitled Switchgrass. The album encompasses a wide range of vocal jazz styles – funk\, bebop\, bossa nova\, Tin Pan Alley era swing\, modal jazz\, jazz folk\, etc. – and draws heavily on inspiration from nature. Past collaborations include Kurt Elling\, Sinne Eeg\, Darmon Meader\, Laila Biali\, Miguel Zenón\, Myra Melford\, Carl Allen\, the One O’Clock Lab Band\, and the Minnesota Jazz Orchestra. Dakota is originally from Fairfield\, Iowa and earned his undergraduate degree in choral music education from the University of Northern Iowa and his master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas.—Cass and Rachel are a guitar and vocal folk duo ready to sing and play their way into your hearts! When they’re not playing together or solo\, you can catch them with their respective groups: Astronomy Town and St. Rangers.—Ryan Garmoe is a trumpet player and composer based in Minneapolis\, MN. He currently leads multiple original projects\, including the fusion group\, Wave Cage\, who was awarded a 2025 Jazz Road Tours Grant to tour the Midwest. The band’s debut album\, Even You Can See in the Dark\, was released on Shifting Paradigm Records in 2023. Ryan also performs original music with his sextet and has released collections of ambient tracks entitled “Sketches”. Ryan has performed at Twin Cities Jazz Festival\, Artprize International Art Competition\, Iowa City Jazz Festival\, 80/35\, Mission Creek Festival\, GDP Festival\, Greeley Jazz Festival\, Summer Camp Music Festival\, Iowa Soul Festival\, and 515 Alive.
