Salgado is famed not only for his powerhouse live shows and ten previous albums\, but also for his passionate and insightful original songs.\n \nFormer co-leader of The Robert Cray Band\, he has been nominated three times for the Blues Music Award for Song Of The Year; winning in 2018 for Walk A Mile In My Blues from The Beautiful Lowdown. In total\, he has won nine Blues Music Awards\, including the B.B. King Entertainer Of The Year award. In May of this year\,  Salgado was named the Soul Blues Male Artist Of The Year by The Blues Foundation. \n \nSalgado was the inspiration behind John Belushi’s creation of the Blues Brothers characters.  They met and became friends while Belushi was Eugene\, Oregon filming the movie Animal House. Salgado tutored Belushi for his role in The Blues Brothers. The Blues Brother’s debut album is dedicated to Salgado and Cab Calloway’s character in film is named after Curtis.\n \n DownBeat calls his songwriting skills “an impressive gift.” Billboard says Salgado’s music is “inspired and powerful.”\n \n“Curtis Salgado is the inspiration of my upcoming album\, Blues Brothers\, and the album is dedicated to him.” John Belushi\n \nCurtis Salgado website: https://www.curtissalgado.com\n \nCurtis Salgado bio: https://www.curtissalgado.com/band-epk/\n \n \nBlues legend and award-winning Twin-Cities performer James Samuel “Cornbread” Harris Sr. was inducted in the Minnesota Blues Hall of Fame in 2012 and won a Sally Award in 2014. A blues singer/pianist/composer\, Harris is the father of well-known Hall of Fame music producer Jimmy Jam Harris. Father and son were recently reunited (after 45 years) on our stage as we celebrated Cornbread’s 95thbirthday with a full house of enthusiastic fans and musicians.\nOn his 90th and 93rd birthdays\, Mr. Harris released a pair of Live@TheHook recordings. His much-anticipated holiday recording will be released this fall and his biography (by local writer Andrea Swenson) will be published in the spring of 2023.\n\n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Join us monthly (Every 4th Thursday) to catch some of your favorites as well as some musicians you may not have seen yet!\n \nDiane is an alternative hip-hop\, rock and folk musician and radio DJ/producer living in Minneapolis. Her latest EP “Earth To Diane” is an eclectic hip-hop record that features a range of themes and messages: from angst to love\, contemplation to humor\, self-confidence to self-deprecation. The self-released 2022 album features flagship Minnesota artists including HALEY\, Dosh\, and Greg Schutte. Star Tribune music critic Chris Riemenschnieder wrote: ” She was born on a now mostly abandoned island in the middle of the Bering Sea. Which makes it even more impressive the way Diane Miller bridges different music genres and job titles these days near the center of North America.” \nSince moving to Minneapolis from Fargo-Moorhead in 2018\, Diane has become a fixture in the local scene. 2021 was especially a year of accomplishments. She was named host/producer of The Local Show powered by MPR’s The Current; wrapped up her artist fellowship year with the McKnight Foundation; co-emceed the bluegrass festival Blue Ox headlined by Jason Isbell; performed for a Minnesota Lynx WNBA Halftime Show; headlined the local music stage at Basilica Block Party; and served as an artist-in-residence at Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer\, Alaska. \n \nCindy Lawson began her rock and roll career in Minneapolis in 1985 with her all-female rock band\, The Clams. Over the years she’s played in several bands in Minneapolis and New York City\, but then took a break starting in the late 90’s. She returned in full force with a new band in 2021 and has been playing to enthusiastic Twin Cities audiences. Her latest record\, New Tricks\, available on Boston’s Rum Bar Records\, has been getting airplay both nationally (on Little Steven’s Underground Garage and Little Steven’s Coolest Songs in the World) and internationally\, garnering rave reviews in publications across the globe.\n \nJunior Choir is an American alternative/post-punk rock band\, formed in the Twin Cities (Minnesota)\, United States\, in 2019. The band is composed of Jesse Baker (vocals\, guitar)\, Jacob Carlson (vocals\, guitar)\, Ben Wilson (bass)\, and Ryan Waldemarson (vocals\, drums). The band was originally mostly a solo project undertaken by Jesse Baker and Ben Wilson\, recording in Ben’s home studio in St. Paul\, Minnesota. They realized that the music they were creating needed to be shared with the world\, and after a few months welcomed drummer Ryan Waldemarson into the band. As they began assembling a larger catalog\, their songwriting and recording accelerated\, and guitarist Jake Carlson was added to finalize the lineup of the band.  \nIn late 2019\, they released their debut record Light & Dark EP\, in the summer of 2020\, they released The Plans We Made EP\, and released their third EP Don’t Mention It in early 2021. \n \n===== \nThe only statewide nonprofit devoted exclusively to serving our independent musicians\, the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC) is responsible for providing resources\, support and paid performance opportunities to artists of all genres. \n====== \n \nDIANE\nWebsite: dianeraps.com\nInstagram: @dianealsorapsFacebook: @dianerapzTwitter: @dianerapz\n \nCINDY LAWSON\nWebsite: cindysongs.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/CindyLawsonSongs/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cindy.lawson/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYfc4U-mQHSfQIBu8kL0rlw/featured\n \nJUNIOR CHOIR\nWebsite: https://juniorchoir.com/\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/JuniorChoirBand/Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3pDUmyxJXP4vOhRoHYhIKDYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMZxnIDXw8eDK4LD4nVo_XAInstagram: @juniorchoir\n\n\n \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

The band have always sought to color outside of prescribed genre lines\, endeavoring to push past the boundaries of style into something substantial and vital.\nReleased in 2013\, The Night Watch EP was supported by a string of dates both domestic and abroad\, culminating in the band delivering a celebrated performance at Germany’s storied Wave-Gotik-Treffen festival in 2014.\nReleased in 2018 (as a single from the forthcoming album)\, Republik is an alluring piece of glam noir\, fusing a raw\, swing groove with William’s crooned vocal\, itself a lyrical lamentation of the erosion of communication between people in this troubled era\, while Sarah’s liquid guitars gently sweeten the delivery before the song gives way to an instantly-memorable\, anthemic chorus\, bursting with glam rock guitar and tribal drums\, as the timely lyric compels us to “wake up” and turn back from the precipice while there’s still time…\n \nThen Comes Silence are the Swedish captains of postpunk. The quartet from Stockholm is a fresh breeze of gothic renaissance\, kicking darkness around with hammering rhythms and melodies that make hearts melt and blood freeze. The fascination for doom and darkness pervade and influence every tune and word. The music of Then Comes Silence takes the listener on a journey from swinging postpunk to the shadows of goth-gaze and into scraps of coal hearted psych. The sharp soundscape is intense\, massive and pounding. The lyrics flirt with death and sorrow. It’s goth\, psychedelica\, rock and post-punk in a symbiosis. \n \nAutumn – U.S.Forming in Minneapolis in 1994\, autumn has always sought to create melodies that get the listener to feel something deeply\, that have the ability to haunt you in some way after the fact.\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

British roots guitarist/songwriter Davy Knowles has been receiving heaps of praise for his newest release What Happens Next.  Special guests from Chicago\, The Claudettes\, will unleash their rocking’ party sounds to kick off the evening.\n \nIsle-Of-Man born roots guitarist /singer-songwriter Davy Knowles burst onto the scene at the age of 20 with his band Back Door Slam\, making national US TV appearances on shows such as Jimmy Kimmel and Good Morning America\, earning extensive radio airplay\, and achieving two Top 5 Billboard Blues charting albums. \nOn the aptly-titled What Happens Next\, Knowles boldly steps forward with timeless and cohesive songwriting\, sleek modern production\, and a lyrical\, play-for-the-song guitar approach informed from soul\, folk\, rock\, and blues. The album is just as influenced by The Black Keys\, Fantastic Negrito\, Gary Clark Jr.\, as it is Muddy Waters\, Junior Kimbrough\, and R.L. Burnside. \nThe Claudettes fuse Chicago piano blues with the full-throttle energy of rockabilly and punk and the sultriness of ’60s soul to write a thrilling new chapter in American roots music. Johnny Iguana pounds the piano alongside seductive singer Berit Ulseth\, bassist/guitarist/singer Zach Verdoorn and drummer Michael Caskey.  \n\n \nJohnny\, who toured for years with his cult-favorite rock band Oh My God\, is also in the Grammy-nominated group Chicago Blues: A Living History and the Muddy Waters 100 Band. He has toured/recorded with Junior Wells\, Buddy Guy\, Otis Rush and more and played piano on the new Chicago Plays the Stones album featuring Mick Jagger\, Keith Richards and Buddy Guy. \n \nThe Claudettes recorded their 2018 album Dance Scandal At The Gymnasium with Grammy-winning producer Mark Neill (Black Keys\, Old 97’s\, J.D. McPherson). They worked with Grammy-winning producer Ted Hutt (Violent Femmes\, Lucero\, Old Crow Medicine Show\, Gaslight Anthem\, The Devil Makes Three) on their 2020 album High Times in the Dark and have been spending recent months working on another new album which will be released later this year.\n—– \nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with it’s uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of south Minneapolis in 2022.*Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers. \n—– \nCome hungry and enjoy dinner with the show! The Hook has committed to having an eclectic variety of food trucks rotating Under the Canopy throughout the 2022 season for our guests. Don’t miss the performance release of their newest EP (official release on 9/9) on 9/23 at The Hook!  \n\n“In many ways\, Maygen & The Birdwatcher feel like a collaboration between two distinct artists versus a more seamless band– but it’s that individuality\, those visible seams\, that make them such a fascinating act.” – Adventures In Americana \nLuke LeBlanc is a Minneapolis based singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in folk\, rock\, and American roots. He has shared the stage with Charlie Parr\, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, and Erik Koskinen\, among others. It’s the passion for the song\, the fire in the music\, the drive to make other people smile that keeps musicians going even through the toughest times. It’s what motivated Billy Iuso for the past 30+ years of playing\, what saved him during the pandemic\, and what has encouraged him to stay singing.  \n \nLike many other musicians during the challenging year that was 2020\, Iuso turned to live streaming and eventually had a weekly show that earned him enough tips from his generous fans to compare with his regular income. He ended up playing over 350 different songs during this series\, including a whole slew of new tunes that sparked a new record.   \n \nFeaturing songs like “My Getaway” and “More to the Island\,” it’s easy to see how this album was lockdown-inspired. But he also had a chance to reach back in his catalog and revamp tunes from his teens\, like “Shine On and Look Inside\,” which indeed became apt for the time.  \n \nThe new album features the legendary Reggie Scanlan (The Radiators) on bass\, long time drummer Eddie Christmas (New Orleans Suspects)\, and Joe Ashlar on keys\, with additional vocals by Sari Jordan and Renée Gros.  \n \nAs a New York native\, Iuso spent his first decade in music playing with his band Brides of Jesus. Growing from the jam-driven Wetlands scene\, they were touring with the likes of Blues Traveler\, Widespread Panic\, and Dave Matthews Band. After an opportunity to open for the Funky Meters\, Iuso’s new friend George Porter Jr. convinced him to move to the Big Easy .   \n \nIuso found his stride when he moved to New Orleans in 1996. Five years later\, BOJ released their last record and disbanded. During a break from performing\, Iuso was a Tour Manager for the Meters\, Neville Brothers\, and George Porter Jr.\, cementing those lifelong friendships & learning the business from the other side of the stage. Missing playing his own music\, he formed Billy Iuso & the Restless Natives in 2002. \n \nIuso continued recording new music under his name and touring with Restless Natives as his band. He released a number of records including “Trippin\,” which found itself on rotation at New Orleans WWOZ Radio. Over 10 years later\, “Trippin’ Over Dragons” is still regularly requested and heard on local stations.   \n \nRestless Natives played many festivals and events until 2021\, when Iuso decided to drop the band name entirely and streamline both the sound and the band. Now billed simply as Billy Iuso\, he plays with many of those band members as well as other friends and heavy hitters in the New Orleans music scene.\nhttps://billyiuso.com/\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

This special performance event is celebrating the 70th birthday of ‘the fairy-godmother’! \n \nThis show will feature cabaret-styled performances by some artists near and dear to her\, including; The Fireroast Mountain Boys\,  Isabella Ebbighausen and Quinn Kaufman\,\nDakota Dave Hull\,\nMary Moore Easter and \nPatrick Scully\n \nFor this cabaret\, to honor her turning 70\, the Fireroast Mountain Boys will present a sample of their original tunes\, jazz/rock/folk standards and/or whatever the birthday girl wants. The Fireroast Mountain Boys are Tim Gustafson\, Dick Danaher\, David West\, Steve Sandberg and Don Browne. They are a band of Minneapolis Southsiders\, known for their unique instrumentation\, eclectic songwriting and variety of covers.\n \n\nIsabella Ebbighausen and Quinn Kaufman originally met during a contortion class at Xelias Aerial Arts School. Through their shared love of circus\, visual arts\, and (strangely) advanced mathematics\, contortion and acrobatics\, they will show some of the many ways that the art of circus can manifest.\n\n\nHailed by everyone from Dave Van Ronk to Doc Watson\, from the Washington Post to Downbeat\, Dakota Dave Hull’s guitar style spans a wide musical geography to create an infectious\, uniquely personal blend of jazz\, ragtime\, folk\, blues\, Western swing\, and vintage pop. Dakota Dave is a restlessly curious\, adventurous traveler along the broad highway of America’s music. In his playing the masters speak\, but in a vocabulary that is Dave’s alone: alternatively mirthful and moving\, always melodic.\nA gifted composer as well as a strikingly original interpreter of older tunes\, Dave calls what he does “classic American guitar.” Folk legend Van Ronk called Dave “one of the best guitarists in the world.”\n \n\n\nMary Moore Easter reading  poems and other writings. Mary is a writer\, dancer\, choreographer\, teacher\, mother\, grandmother….  Appearing in this cabaret as a poet\, Mary danced a long time and still does a bit. She established the dance program at Carleton College\, where there is now a dance studio named after her. Her collection\, The Body of the World\, was a Finalist for the Minnesota Book Award in Poetry 2019. She also performed at Patrick’s Cabaret way back in the early days! She’s a recipient of a 2020 MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant for Free Papers: poems\, a chapbook\, (soon-to-be-performance) sprung from the testimony of Eliza Winston\, an enslaved woman who escaped to freedom in Minnesota in 1860 Free Papers has been accepted for publication by Finishing Line Press.\nMost recently\, her poetry was featured in a concert\, From the Flutes of Our Bones\, an evening of eight premieres by MNSong Composers\, performed by eight MN Duos\, highlighting her poetry.\n\nRecognizing that the fairy godmother has generally found modern dance to be inscrutable\, Patrick Scully will present Remy Charlip’s Ten Imaginary Dances. He will also be the Master of ceremonies for this special home-coming evening. \n \nPatrick Scully is a Minneapolis based choreographer/dancer and performance artist. He began dancing in 1972 as a college freshman. In 1976 he co-founded Contactworks\, a Minneapolis based dance collective focused on contact improvisation. In 1980 he left Contactworks in search of a way to bring his voice as a gay man into the work he was creating. This eventually led him to Remy Charlip’s Naropa East workshop in 1984\, Meetings with Remarkable Women. That led him to dance with Remy\, beginning with Remy’s Ten Men show in BAM’s Next Wave Festival in 1984. In his heart\, and daily life\, Patrick is still dancing with Remy. Patrick’s most current project is Leaves of Grass – Illuminated\, about Walt Whitman. In addition to his performing work\, Patrick was the founder and long time director of Patrick’s Cabaret\, in Minneapolis. \nMore complete information is available at www.patrickscully.org\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
