Their contagious enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment onstage have earned Trailer Trash the reputation of being Minnesota’s premier honky-tonk band. To this day\,Trailer Trash is known for playing traditional country music as well as a wide variety of styles from the American hit parade. A typical eclectic set list will span decades and touch the heart of every audience member.\n \nHonky-Tonk Jump plays swingin’ Texas dance hall music in the tradition of Bob Wills\, Milton Brown\, Ernest Tubb and Spade Cooley with a sprinkling of Hank Williams and other early honky-tonk legends. This band rustles up a rhythm roundup with accordion\, twin fiddles\, guitar\, pedal steel\, mandolin\, bass\, drums and vocals. Their music features signature twin and triple leads on accordion\, fiddle\, pedal steel and guitar with soulful vocals\, all backed by a hard-swingin’ rhythm section. A thoughtful\, clever lyricist with a tender voice\, the Minneapolis-based troubadour crafts songs that are catchy and relatable\, and span the emotional gamut from poignancy to whimsy. jeremy is one of those rare artists who can break your heart one minute\, and then put those fragile pieces back together again the next. \n“…he’s a pop genius\, with creative ambition to match his songs’ considerable charm” – NPR \n“…a Minnesota music hero” —Star Tribune \nAnna Graves is refreshed\, both personally and professionally\, after returning to her family’s farm in rural Southern Minnesota\, outside Minneapolis. Her new music\, including her single “Made to Love Someone\,” features simple production that puts her vulnerable\, ripped-from-her-life lyrics at the forefront. Love is the overarching theme on the album she’s working on for Island Records – not only romantic love\, but also\, and perhaps more importantly\, self-love – and she’s not afraid to mine her own experiences for inspiration\, nor to be extremely forthcoming with the details. “The best that I can do\,” Graves says\, “is just write something that’s completely true to me. How else are people gonna relate to something?” \nAnna Graves is also an American voice actress best known for her voice-over work on multiple video games and commercials\, along with her work on the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. \n\n\nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2024. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers.—–The Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2024 season for our guests. You should come and hear them. And you’re right\, it’s not an orchestra. More like a banjo-harp-gentle-rockin-happy machine. They don’t know what to call it\, but they want everyone to know about it. The music has a lot of light in it. They try to play beautiful songs from all eras. Plus a ton of Matt’s own songs dating from the beginning of his songwriting quest right up to the present. Quillan Roe of The Roe Family Singers\, Matt Wilson\, Jacques Wait who touches all music in Minneapolis\, and harpist Phala Tracy.\n \nChristy Costello is a mover and a shaker in the Twin Cities Music Scene. She’s a songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, disc jockey\, talent buyer\, promoter\, mother\, and yogi. Hailing from the Iron Range of Northern Minnesota\, she is no stranger to the great outdoors. Her music blends the ferocity and rawness of nature’s elements\, the new and exciting energy of a house show\, mixed with the adrenaline rush of an all-night downtown disco. Her first-rate songwriting has been showcased in previous bands like Pink Mink and Ouija Radio\, as well as her raw and unforgettable stage performances in Monica LaPlante\, Butchers Union\, The Von Bondies\, and Extraterrestrials. This is Christy’s turn to step to the front. Christy’s current lineup includes Monica LaPlante (bass)\, Orion Treon (guitar/synth)\, Austin Cecil (drums)\, and Matt Pahl (sax/auxiliary instrumentation).\n\n\n\nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2024. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers.—–The Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2024 season for our guests. Hamell on Trial is the musical alias of New York-based folk punk hero Ed Hamell. A one-man explosion\, he is loud-as-war one minute\, stepping off the microphone to whisper to an enthralled audience the next. This is a dynamic performance informed by politics\, passion\, intelligence and the all-important sense of humor. \nHis caustic wit and devil-may-care attitude have long been a favorite of anti-establishment icons Aesop Rock\, Kimya Dawson\, Ani DiFranco\, and the critical elite inciting Rolling Stone magazine to call him “Bald\, bold\, and superbad!” Henry Rollins says “Hamell is a one-man rock show!” He has been described as “Bill Hicks\, Hunter S. Thompson\, and Joe Strummer all rolled into one” by Philadelphia Weekly and a “one-man Tarantino flick: loud\, vicious\, luridly hilarious\, gleefully and deeply offensive” by the Village Voice. \n“He plays a 1937 Gibson guitar with a jackhammer force that makes you wonder how it doesn’t fall apart. The powerful\, profane\, hilarious\, one-man wrecking crew known as Hamell On Trial.” – Brian Cornish \nHamell tours the world constantly\, seemingly enjoying every performance challenge. From larger stages and theaters\, winning the coveted Herald Angel Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, to house concerts and DIY underground spaces\, this is a man who clearly loves to play. Armed with a battered 1937 Gibson acoustic guitar that he amplifies mightily and strums like a machine gun\, a politically astute mind that can’t stop moving\, and a mouth that can be profane one minute and profound the next\, with Tackle Box\, Hamell sets his sights on the new America and issues personal and spiritual. His performances invoke thoughts of the great\, rebellious satirists and social commentators of the past: Lenny Bruce\, Richard Pryor and Bill Hicks. Hamell is a great mind with acoustic punk rock mixed with a seeker’s soul. There’s no way around his obscenity but in that is a willingness to fight for the free thinkers of the world. Don’t we need that now more than ever? \nRuth Theodore has just signed an exciting record deal with Ani Difranco’s Righteous Babe Records in the USA and is on her debut tour of the US this spring to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated 5th studio record – ‘I Am I Am’ \nShe’ll perform from the new album which is the fruits of her ongoing collaborations with Grammy and Tony award winning bassist/producer Todd Sickafoose (Hadestown) and Swiss American percussion virtuoso Mathias Kunzli (Regina Spektor)\, recorded in upstate New York by Eli Crews (Tune-Yards). \nTheodore will also perform tracks from her critically acclaimed back catalog\, archived in the British Library for its contribution to British music. Theodore is an enigmatic performer and has performed her music in iconic venues in the UK including the London Palladium and Glastonbury Festival. \n“The last time I played the London Palladium Ruth Theodore was on the bill with me. I watched from the wings inspired by her authenticity\, her connection with my audience\, and her free artistic spirit. That night I saw her as a true Righteous Babe. Last fall\, when she reached out with her new album\, it seemed the perfect time to reunite and help introduce her to North America.”— Ani DiFranco“Britain’s answer to Ani DiFranco”- Red Guitar Music \n“Her tales leave you breathless” ★★★★ Mojo \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Thursday\, July 11 is presented as a partially seated listening show environment with Friday\, July 12 being a general admission full band performance. \n \n\nMidwestern artist Lissie is a multi-talented tour de force who released her latest Americana-tinged indie folk album “Carving Canyons”. Ahead of the release she has unveiled the first song two songs “Flowers” and “Night Moves”. Debuted by FLOOD Magazine\, the haunting sun-soaked song Night Moves channels Fleetwood Mac grandeur as it explores sensory memory and considering multiple realities vs one’s own point of view when navigating heartbreak. \n“Carving Canyons” is about looking within while dealing with the uncertainty of the future—finding hope in personal and worldly adversity\, no matter what the forecast might say. Inspired by her incredible intergenerational female friend group and the nature that surrounded her\, Lissie traveled to Nashville and co-wrote much of the album with a majority of female-identifying songwriters—including Bre Kennedy\, Madi Diaz\, Morgan Nagler\, Natalie Hemby\, Kate York\, and Sarah Buxton—who also contribute additional vocals throughout the album. \n \n“Carving Canyons” is Lissie’s first full-length album since her UK Top 10 album “Castles” in 2018. In 2010\, her 1st full length album “Catching A Tiger” unassumingly established Lissie as a global voice. Lissie has recently appeared in TV shows Twin Peaks and Loudermilk as well as co-owns the music genre themed popcorn company Otts Pops Indie Pop and is involved with land conservation. \n———Tyler RamseyAt the core of any great singer-songwriter lies this inherent trait of stage presence\, one where an entire room\, no matter the size\, is pulled in by this lyrical tractor beam — all eyes\, emotions and energies aimed in one direction at a single voice. For Tyler Ramsey\, it’s being able to honestly connect with the listener. Albeit a genuinely humble soul\, don’t let Ramsey fool you. When it comes to the modern-day singer-songwriter\, he remains a bastion of musical talent and lyrical aptitude — a melodic voice-of-reason and safe haven amid a 21st century world seemingly gone mad. The former lead guitarist of Band of Horses\, Ramsey has also released four acclaimed solo albums\, including “For The Morning” in 2019. Ramsey’s latest album “New Lost Ages” was captured at the legendary Avast! Recording Co. in Seattle\, Washington\, by storied producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes\, Father John Misty\, The Shins\, Built to Spill). The 10-song LP is an ongoing sonic quest — meticulously wandering across the musical landscape\, this undulating tone of indie\, rock and folk stylings.\n=========\n\n\nDetails of Second Show: \nLISSIE (Full Band) with guest LAAMAR (Duo)\nFriday\, July 12\n\nUnder The Canopy at The Hook and Ladder Theater“An Urban Outdoor Summer Concert Series”\nDoors 6:00pm :: Music 7:00pm :: 21+\nVIP Meet & Greet: $107 (3 Song Acoustic Performance in Zen Arcade)\nGA: $32 ADV / $38 DOS\n\n\n TICKETS AND INFO\n	\n\n\n\nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2024. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers.—–The Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2024 season for our guests. Former frontman of Brooklyn-based Jus Post Bellum\, Wilson is also known for his multilayered looped saxophone performances and catchy podcast ditties (Terrible\, Thanks for Asking). On the band’s debut EP\, Flowers\, Wilson blends his idiomatic inspirations bridging folk\, soul\, R&B\, and country with a constant ear toward racial and social justice issues and the shared human experience.\n \n“In the EP’s deceptively sweet and warm title track\, he relays a memory of his mother ‘lighting candles and putting flowers on the boulevard’ in memory of another dead man of color. In the standout track getting airplay on the Current\, ‘Home to My Baby\,’ he relays his personal fears of getting pulled over by police\,” writes Chris Riemenschneider of the Star Tribune.\n \nRecent acclaim for LAAMAR includes debut single “Home to My Baby” being named KAXE’s “Best Song” of 2023 and a nod as one of First Avenue’s Best New Bands. “With Flowers\,” writes Malachy Koons of KAXE\, “LAAMAR has crafted a stunning debut that does not shy away from difficult topics. She has been writing music since the age of 14\, taking inspiration after Beyonce\, Janet Jackson\, Britney Spears\, SOPHIE\, Stevie Wonder\, and many others. Originally\, she began her journey as a classically trained pianist\, from ages 6 to 10\, taking after her family history of classical pianists. After getting rejected from the vocal jazz program at her school\, Zora was put into a music technology class\, which she despised. Little did she know\, this class would be a blessing in disguise. Zora began studying the sound and choreography of artists such as Britney Spears\, Janet Jackson\, and Beyonce\, and began creating original songs that she could choreograph to. By 15\, she had released her first EP. At age 21\, Zora relocated to Minneapolis\, Minnesota\, where she began crafting her official debut album\, “Z1”. It was during this time that she began to learn how to play the electric guitar\, working alongside her cousin to help her out with some of the songs. At age 22\, “Z1” was officially released and received critical acclaim\, being Zora’s biggest launch yet. Zora’s main mission within music is to spread awareness\, positivity\, and freedom of expression through art. She Zora has dedicated her career to her mother and grandmother\, who both instilled artistic expression in her at a very young age.—Twin Cities non profit punk band DOLL CHASER started with an idea to give back to the queer community they call home. Inspired by a wide variety of rock and punk groups from Amyl and The Sniffers to Franz Ferdinand\, Doll Chaser combines a lively rhythm section with face melting lead guitar and aggressive\, politically charged vocals with a splash of catchy harmonies to create a wholly unique style you won’t find anywhere else. \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

This special concert features Trevor McSpadden and Ali Gray\, backed by The DL4. \nTrevor McSpadden and The DL4 will perform many of Merle’s biggest hits and lesser known songs. They capture the spirit of a performer that refused to bend to country music convention and helped create the Bakersfield sound. In a career that spanned more than 50 years\, Merle Haggard racked up an astounding 38 number one country hits and every major award imaginable. You’ll hear songs like “Mama Tried\,” “Okie From Muskogee\,” “I’m A Lonesome Fugitive” and many others that continue to inspire new generations of artists and fans alike. \n  \nTrevor McSpadden worked Central Texas dance halls before perfecting his hard honky-tonk sound in the nightclubs of Chicago. Moving to California in early 2014\, Trevor made short work of ingratiating himself to the Golden State. Now based out of Saint Paul\, McSpadden’s carefully crafted twang is at home in both beer joints and listening rooms\, inspiring audiences to dance and carry on in the time-honored way. \nAli Gray and The DL4 will honor Loretta Lynn’s greatest songs; “Coal Miner’s Daughter\,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough\,” “You’re Lookin’ At Country\,” “One’s on the Way\,” “The Pill\,” and many more! Along with a few Conway Twitty duets (featuring Dan Neale) like “After the Fire is Gone” and “Louisiana Woman\, Mississippi Man.” Loretta’s life story reads more like fiction than fact. A poorly educated woman from the coal-mining hills of Kentucky\, married at age fifteen and a mother at sixteen\, she became one of country music’s most popular performers and broke ground for numerous female singers who followed her. \nAli Gray has been writing songs and performing in various bands for over 25 years. With 5 studio albums under her belt\, Ali continues to release new singles reguarly. When she isn’t writing and recording\, you can find her singing full-time in on of her multiple projects: Ali Gray’s Country Jamboree\, Ali & Joe\, DRUNCH!\, Twang Time\, Martin Zellar’s Neil Diamond Tribute\, Tim Sigler’s All Churched Up\, Parrothead Paradise\, Two Hicks and a Chick\, and Mish Mash.Ali is also a regular guest co-host on the BOB 106 morning show. \nDL4 is fronted by Dan Lowinger and includes some of the regions best musicians:* Dan Lowinger (guitar) – Since moving to the Twin Cities in 2017\, Dan has become a fixture in the local country and Americana scene\, playing on a regular basis with all-star Western swing band Honky Tonk Jump\, and country rockers Cole Diamond\, while also sharing the stage with local greats Martin Zellar (Gear Daddies)\, Tony Andreason (The Trashmen)\, Pat Donohue (Prairie Home Companion) and many others! He has performed regionally and toured nationally with many different country and swing bands from the Pacific Northwest including. \n* Dan Neale (guitar) – Dan is a guitarist who moves easily from blues and country to pop\, jazz\, and rock. Fingerpicking\, flatpicking — he’s got it covered. Back when he was a high school kid in Chattanooga\, he began to think about a career in music. He played in the school band and in a group formed by his brother. That led to work with a slew of bar bands and a full-time stint in country rock group called Rawhide. In 1986\, he left Tennessee for Minnesota (“I married a woman who hated hot weather\,” he says). As a studio player and sideman\, he has worked with Martin Zellar\, Bobby Vee\, and a host of others. \n* Ken Wilson (Pedal Steel) – A Twin Cities treasure\, Ken has played and/or recorded with acts such as Paulette Carlson of Highway 101\, John Hermanson and Chris Cunningham of Storyhill\, John McAndrew\, Becky Schlegel\, and Sherwin Linton. \n* Erik Lillestol (Bass) – Erik is a long-standing freelance Twin Cities bass player\, most notably playing the french and gypsy-influenced jazz of the Cafe Accordion Orchestra. \n* Scott Wenum (Drums) – Scott is a high demand twin cities drummer who plays with Martin Zellar and many others. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd4cCgwUwSM \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
