My musical influences range from artists and bands like Def Leopard\, Pearl Jam\, and Paula Abdul to Amos Lee\, Martin Sexton\, Stevie Wonder\, Leon Bridges\, and many in between. I love a vocal and lyric that can break your heart as well as a tasty melody that gets stuck in your head for days at a time. A rip-roaring guitar solo has its place as well. \n\nI write and perform so that I can connect with the listener. I strive to create moments in a song or a set where people feel that I wrote that chorus or verse specifically for them. I look around me for inspiration to bring to song and stage. Some songs are ripped directly from my day to day and past. Other songs are built from the people I get to experience in the community around me. \n\nWhen I get to the stage whether by myself or with the band\, I look for those moments to build connection. It’s also no secret that I gage success by tears. Either from reflection and experiencing a balm to the soul\, or from laughter from the banter and commentary between songs. Most of the music that can be heard from me and the band is original\, however\, there are a few tasty covers that we have reimagined and built with our own emotion and flavor. \n\nMy Grandma’s Cardigan:My Grandma’s Cardigan is a folk rock group that came together in the heart of Winona\, MN. What started as a folk duo jamming in a living room\, has grown into a great group of friends that love playing music together. Their melodic harmonies and fun upbeat sounds have made their way across the Midwest. With covers from the Beatles to Black Sabbath – and an ever growing archive of original music – they have a little something for everyone. \nTyler HaagAmericana/alt-country/rock from Minneapolis\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

SUMMARY:Delicate Friend EP Release with Bad Posture Club and Rabeca
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nTHE MISSION ROOM AT The Hook AND LADDER THEATER \n\nDoors 7:00pm\nMusic 8:00pm\n21+\nGA*: $10 ADV / $15 DOS\n\n*Does not include feesNO REFUNDS \n\n COVID-19 Policies\n	\n\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nDelicate Friend EP Release with Bad Posture Club and Rabeca\n \n\nLocal witchy alt rock band Delicate Friend releases their debut EP\, supported by Bad Posture Club and Rabeca \n\nDelicate Friend is a witchy alt-rock project from Minneapolis\, MN including Andrea Leonard (guitar/singer-songwriter)\, Dan Crist (drums)\, Rachel Bearinger (lead guitar)\, and Kourtney Ryan (bass). Each member comes from a deep experience performing solo and/or with bands\, and they each bring their multiple talents to the songwriting table. They pull their love for 90s rock\, emo\, and folk-rock to make a unique\, moody sound. Influences come from the likes of Wolf Alice\, Smashing Pumpkins\, and Fleetwood Mac.  \n \nBad Posture Club is a Minneapolis-based folk duo made up of Maren Day and Morgan Kavanagh. Their songwriting explores themes of home-places\, memory\, and family\, finding inspiration in the strange relationship between human softness and the unyielding societal structures we both participate in\, and push against. Their songs are purposefully open and sparse\, crafting intricate and experimental harmonies through voice\, banjo\, guitar\, and sometimes a 100-year-old pump organ. \n\nMinneapolis’ Rabeca never stays in one place for too long—each song meanders from meditative solos to upbeat drum shuffles and rich chordal harmonies. The quintet first joined forces for a living room cabaret performance in 2019 and have since melded their unique musical tastes into a hearty musical stew. Drawing on their individual backgrounds in jazz big band\, madrigal singing\, and jam bands\, Rabeca fuses improvised solos with catchy hooks. Their debut album Potluck (2020) captures the band’s playful energy and love for a good meal. Rabeca is Alex (keys)\, Anna (saxophone)\, Colleen (guitar)\, David (bass)\, and Satchel (drums).\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Their music has the swampy feel of North Mississippi hill country blues à la Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside\, with a good dose of snarling garage punk tossed into the mix. While the band would sometimes expand into a trio\, they record the bulk of their work as a two-piece\, and the tough\, funky roar of their music arrives fully formed on their 2006 debut Gettin’ Down on It. Left Lane Cruiser stay true to their sledgehammer take on garage-infused blues\, even when they partnered with James Leg on 2012’s Painkillers\, added an electric skateboard on 2015’s Dirty Spliff Blues\, or brought in a keyboard player for 2017’s Claw Machine Wizard. https://www.facebook.com/leftlanecruiserband/\n \nKent Burnside\nKent Burnside was born into the blues. Kent Burnside was born in 1971 in Memphis Tennessee\, and spent his early years in Holly Springs\, Mississippi. He is the oldest Grandson and one of the closest pupils of the legendary R.L. Burnside. Kent first heard the blues while watching his grandfather R.L. perform on the family farm to the locals. Kent used to sell sandwiches to audience members for a dollar a piece during these performances. The first lesson RL taught Kent was that to be a bluesman you have to find your own rhythm on the guitar. You can’t play someone else’s rhythm – as rhythm comes from your heart. It started with Buddy Guy. Kent got his real start in the music business playing with Jimbo Mathus (Fat Possum Records) and going on tour with Buddy Guy in the early 2000’s. That was when he started developing his signature style of blues: dark\, hypnotic\, inviting and very danceable. https://burnsidekent.com/\n \nAlexander Craig & The Lifters\nMid-West native Alexander Craig captivates crowds with his high energy fusion of American roots music. When he’s leading his big band\, performing with his trio\, or playing as a traditional one man band he inspires dancing and audience engagement. His songs are as wide ranging as his character\, from swampy gut-bucket blues to blistering punk inspired rock n’ roll. With enthusiasm and spiritual drive he promotes unity during these divided times bringing light to our commonalities through song and dance. In addition to being a performer and songwriter he also produces\, directs\, and edits music videos for himself and for others. https://alexandercraig.com\n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Since then\, the group has become a national ambassador for progressive bluegrass\, playing to club\, theater and festival audiences around the country. \nTo the fans of the Stringdusters Jeremy is known as “G-Grass” or “Freedom Cobra” for his dynamic stage presence. When he is not touring with The Infamous Stringdusters he turns his attention to his solo show\, wowing listeners by using electronic effects to layer and loop multiple instruments and vocals\, which he showcases on his latest album “Circles” released on Organic Records. Jeremy also performs in all-star line-ups ranging from funk music to traditional bluegrass. \nJeremy has a more intimate side as a songwriter\, and has a broad catalog of originally crafted songs. He has contributed several songs to the Stringdusters\, including the title track for their 2014 album “Let It Go”\, winning first place in the Folk category for the 2014 USA Songwriting Competition. His songwriting collaborations include Darrell Scott\, Oliver Wood (of The Wood Brothers)\, Jon Weisberger\, Josh Shilling\, Becky Buller and more. \n—– \nWith their fast picking and fresh arrangements\, ShadowGrass is moving forward in the bluegrass genre by incorporating each member’s varied influences into a fresh project that branches outside the bounds of traditional music while maintaining traditional instrumentation. Each of the band members grew up in a culturally rich area of traditional music\, which heavily influences their approach to music. Feeding off of each other’s musical ideas and energy\, their music proves to be a constantly evolving world that draws the audience in at every show. \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Music\, dance\, words\, and stories will bring out all that hides beneath. \n\n\n \nFreaque is for the derelicts\, the heretics\, the tree stumps\, and those who live on the fringes of society. A tattered voice\, made of strung out words\, hung to dry over broken chords on his mother’s piano. His songs range from the kind of folk and blues you find in graveyards and gardens\, to fuller grooves you can find in swamps\, sewers\, and junkyards. In a wooden womb of darkness\, he took what he had and rose above a society that constantly tells us we are not enough\, that we’re only worth the possessions we own\, the money in our bank accounts\, and our body’s abilities. We do not have to conform to societal standards to be valued as human beings. That is why he creates music and art. \nHouse Band – Freaque: @freaquedom https://gabrielrodreick.com/freaque\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

The band honed its traditional sound in 2014 with their debut album Chicken Wire Empire. With half of the group rooted in bluegrass\, and the other half steeped in jamband music\, a change occurred when CWE performed an Old & In The Way tribute show. A new sound was found in Milwaukee\, and Chicken Wire Empire joined the roster of high energy acoustic music happening across the nation.  This journey from traditional to progressive was documented by director Ross Monagle in the film ”All It Takes\,” premiering in 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Milwaukee. Recorded and mixed by sound engineer Sam Donoghue\, the film follows the band around Wisconsin and includes performances in Milwaukee’s historic Riverside Theatre.  In 2018\, the band returned to the studio\, recording their sophomore album “What Moves Mountains” at Axis Recording Studios with engineer Vinny Millevolte and the mastering talents of Justin Perkins. With support from their family and friends\, What Moves Mountains was released January 1st of 2019. \nDeep Space\, Light Speed\, Bluegrass!\n\n \n\nDust from the years of performing has coalesced to form Buffalo Galaxy. Each member brings with them a tradition of Bluegrass and American music as their launchpad\, creating moments of energy and intensity generated by light-speed bluegrass\, while exploring the deep-space between emotions. In their three years as a band\, Buffalo Galaxy has played over 200 shows around the greater midwest and Rocky Mountains. They have shared the stage with the Kitchen Dwellers\, Dead Horses\, and Daniel Donato. The band has brought their signature style to some of the regions finest festivals like Blue Ox\, Boats and Bluegrass and many more. Buffalo Galaxy released their debut album “New Escape” during 2020 and their follow up will be out in early 2023. Buffalo Galaxy is ready to burn bright in the bluegrass universe!\n \n \n\nMountain Fern is Folk/Americana duo Hannah Mae Hendrickson and Tessa Nichols-Meade.\n \n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

A tale of the beauty\, adventure\, discovery\, love lost and found\, life and death\, an observation of human nature with its promise\, quirks\, and flaws. It’s a travelogue of the sights and nuance two lane travel offers to those who are aware and slow down enough to have these memories and experiences engraved on you for a lifetime. Grab your shades\, a loved one\, and your thirst for adventure and come along on a road trip down the Two Lane Highway. \n\n“This sophomore outing does not disappoint. Every track has a mile-wide groove. Intense songwriting with a laidback delivery and impeccable musicianship throughout” – Kate MacKenzie\, Grammy Nominee \n“Someone Like You” – Dave Bille YouTube\n  \n\nBluegrass\, blues\, swing\, Americana\, country\, tin pan alley\, old time\, and just a little pop are all representing in the music you may hear from King Wilkie’s Dream.  The band sets out to stretch musically and creatively\, while entertaining in a way that transcends generations and connects will audiences. Whether it is an original song\, a well-worn traditional number\, or something from outside the genre of bluegrass\, the turn receives the same attention to detail\, resulting in the band’s new sound\, big noise. \n\n“Soulful\, bluesy\, rootsy are only a few adjectives that apply to this group. He represented the fourth generation of country music’s most legendary family — hence his nickname\, “IV” — and the pressure to launch his own career was enormous. Although Coleman would eventually make his mark with Southern Circus — the genre-bending debut from his band\, IV and The Strange Band\, combining southern storytelling and country textures with 100-watt guitar amps and DIY attitude — he needed to break free first and discover his own musical approach along the way. Southern Circus is his homecoming: an album that finds him not falling into a legacy\, but earning it. \nDJ Dan Lansing is a curator\, promoter and rock n roll DJ who has gone mental and lived to tell the tales. \nThis show is brought to you in part by REAL PUNK RADIO\n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n	\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
