For More Information visit www.ZenArcadeTHC.com \n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nReunion\, Album Release & Farewell Show\nSaint Small \nwith The Mood Swings & Little Man!\n\n\nSaint Small is throwing a combo reunion\, album release and farewell show – a local band trifecta that has probably never been done!  Joining in on the festivities are special guests The Mood Swings and Little Man.\n \nSaint Small is a band of friends from Saint Paul. The popular rock/garage group has been on semi-hiatus since member Jim McGuinn moved to Philadelphia for a job at WXPN-FM in 2022. Named after a phrase used in St. Paul when you meet someone new and discover a surprise connection – a mutual friend\, a past lover\, bandmate or neighbor – Saint Small refers to the way everyone and everything seems to be connected. The band surfs between songs that are serious\, and songs that will seriously make you laugh or smile (or cry\, laughing). \n \n\n \n\nThe best of classic guitar-driven rock in one small package\, Little Man (Chris Perricelli) has been described as a cross between George Harrison\, David Bowie\, T. Rex\, and Jack White\, with a familiar rock sound that is somehow all his own while being heavily inspired by spiritual and Zen themes. The Little Man live rock show is not to be missed.  Exuding with passion and a rock-star quality that pulls you into a performance with a classic rock\, psychedelic and garage rock feel that is uniquely their own.  \n \n\nThe unique fuzzpop sound of The Mood Swings developed when guitarist/songwriter Ashley Ackerson joined forces with kindred spirit Sallie Watson in the early 2000s and started cutting some 4-track demos. A little punk here\, a little 60s garage there\, a lot of attitude everywhere – The Mood Swings sound melded all these ingredients into hard hitting tunes prickly with pop hooks\, sharp-witted lyrics and searing guitars. The Mood Swings released three ace albums\, all produced by the late\, great Ed Ackerson. These albums featured catchy tunes with an edge and a bit of psychedelic mayhem thrown in.

Simpson’s raspy\, dynamic voice is larger than life — but not as large as her uncontainable energy that radiates from the stage.” – Colleen Cowie (Minneapolis Public Radio) \n—\nMae Simpson is known for their high energy and stage presence that speaks for itself. Tight horn and Rhythm section set the tone\, immediately pulling fans to  engage. The midwest based 4-piece masterfully blends soul-pleasing songwriting rich in imagery and storytelling with a genre bending\, shake-your-hips\, instrumental flair. Their high energy performances are driven by the unique and progressive approach of each player: imaginative melodies with graceful ambiance skillfully crafted on the violin\, tireless beats both dynamic and soulful confidently assembled on the drums\, driving low end with finesse and intention forged on the bass guitar\, and unique approach to playing the acoustic guitar blending fast picking bluegrass runs with the strength of blues and rock to evoke an emotional contrast between melancholy and hopeful.\n \n\nJoin us where every night is ladies’ night and rock & roll reigns! Nicole was initially influenced by her parents playing in bands and working around the KC music scene. She recalls seeing her father playing blues guitar and her mother singing with the group Little Eva and The Works and it set off a switch. With her two brothers\, Nick and Kris\, they formed the “Heavy Blues” band Trampled Under Foot\, which found initial popularity in the Midwest\, then exploded worldwide for over 10 years.  \n\nThere has been no shortage of praise; Guitar World stated\, “Danielle Nicole has won respect and admiration throughout the American blues scene for her soulful\, inventive playing and tireless work ethic.” Blues Music Magazine effused\, “Nicole brings it\, bakes it\, and serves it up blazing on a silver soul-rocking platter.” The Kansas City Star declared\, “Blues and soul vocalists tend to improve as they age. Bettye LaVette is among the artists who became increasingly believable as she matured. Danielle Nicole appears to be following in her footsteps.”

This rockin’ quartet is considered one of the torch bearers of American roots music. \n \nSince forming in 1988 in Southern California\, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys have become one of the world’s most beloved Americana/Roots acts\, drawing from the deep musical waters that flow just beneath the surface of Rock & Roll’s fertile soil. A childhood passion for Country\, Doo-Wop\, and Rhythm & Blues 45s led Sandy (born Robert Williams) to pursue a singing career as a teenager\, beginning a life in music that continues decades later. \n \nAnd as his personal record collection continues to grow (75\,000 and counting)\, so does the depth of the musical influences that stream through his songwriting and singing style. A critically acclaimed tribute to Tex-Mex hero Freddy Fender\, released at the beginning of the 2020 lockdown\, points the way forward for Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys as they continue on a path of musical growth. After nearly 35 years on the road\, and more than two dozen releases to their credit\, they remain key figures on the ever-changing Americana circuit\, both on record and in live appearances.\n \n\nMinneapolis based band\, Lena & The LoveKills\, exist in a musical genre all their own. The band fuses elements of Rockabilly\, Danceable Swing\, Jump Blues and R&B into an eclectic mix of good music and fun times that can only rightfully be described as “Swingabilly.” Their stage presence\, retro look\, and often quirky sense of humor delights listeners and gets folks onto the dance floor.

Get your tickets and don’t forget your dancing shoes!—Igor Yuzov was born in Germany\, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union\, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak\, led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible\, Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo\, and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. In 1993\, Limpopo won Ed McMahon’s Star Search and their popularity began to blossom. In 1995\, Igor dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Igor and his Russian friends became Red Elvises and gave street performances on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. As their crowds grew larger\, the City of Santa Monica ordered them to discontinue their street performances. Evolving over the years\, Igor’s music has been labeled “Siberian Surf Rock” which contains humorous lyrics and grooves that forces his audience to dance. Over the past 20 years\, Red Elvises have constantly toured all over the world with occasional breaks to record new music and to participate in film and television projects. \n\n \nAs an independent band\, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums\, two live albums\, a live concert DVD\, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”\, “Mail Order Bride”\, “Armageddon”\, “Skippy”\,  “Melrose Place”\, “Fastlane”\, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”\, “VH-1 Behind the Music”\, and “MTV”. Red Elvises have performed for large festivals\, private parties\, and played on massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. No matter where they perform\, Igor & Red Elvises always bring the party with them.\n \nBlack Widows are a surf-punk-psyche band from Minneapolis\, Mn\, U.S. They serve up wild surf guitar\, slick bass grooves\, mean beats\, & riot grrrl vox. BW have toured overseas & nationally from Spain to NYC & LA playing bills and festivals w/ major acts like Bombino\, Dale Watson\, L.A. Witch\, The Trashmen\, Shonen Knife\, Olivia Jean\, The Coathangers\, Death Valley Girls\, Supersuckers\, Agent Orange\, The Surfaris\, Man or Astro-Man\, Messer Chups\, The Surfrajettes\, John Waters\, & more. BW’s ‘Swamp Rock City’ EP is out now on vinyl and they’re currently working on a full length album to be released this year. Follow BW at @blackwidowsrocks for 2025 tour dates and releases.

In the gospel church of her childhood\, she played saxophone and drums and found her singing voice and a passion for music. \n \nChastity’s been featured on NPR’s Favorite Sessions\, CMT\, American Songwriter\, the London Times\, Paste Magazine and others. Chastity has toured the U.S. and abroad\, appearing on the U.K.’s Later…with Jools Holland.\n \nLike so many artists who endured the uncertainty of the 2020 lockdown\, Chastity’s instinct was to turn inward\, at first out of self-preservation\, and then because the new songs kept coming and coming. Since finishing her last album\, 2017’s Silhouette Of Sirens\, she estimates she’s written nearly 100 new songs\, ten of which found their way onto her latest\, 2022’s Sing To The Walls.\n \nBetween writing sessions she’s been vibing to chilled-out\, forward-thinking artists like Leon Bridges\, H.E.R.\, SZA\, and Daniel Caesar\, taking their cue to expand beyond genre and her folk/roots history to encompass her appreciation of all Black American musical art forms. “I also want to poke at what the blues is\,” Chastity reflects. “It has a lot of stereotypes like it’s mostly only played by blue-eyed white guys now. But what about Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey? I feel so closely connected\, in a pure\, undeviating lineage\, to the heritage of being a Black\, queer blues woman. I want to share this music with them\, to say that I’ve listened\, and I’ve done something new.”\n—\n\nAnna Devine is a singer-songwriter based in the Twin Cities. You may have seen her singing with local indie groups Aiden Intro and Chutes. In 2024\, Anna moved to center stage to front her solo project\, playing sold-out rooms in the Twin Cities area.\nInspired by indie folk musicians such as Adrianne Lenker\, Slow Pulp and Alex G\, Anna released her debut EP\, “Seeing the Trees for the Leaves” in April 2025. \n \n“Her first solo release\, “Year’s End\,” captures the conflicting feelings of starting anew after the holiday fanfare. Devine’s gentle\, sensitive musical touch is reminiscent of alternative folk artists like Big Thief and Aldous Harding.” —Diane Miller\, The Current (MPR)\n \n“Anna Devine’s songs carry stories of heartache and fortitude across her new EP\, Seeing the Trees for the Leaves. With subtle and gentle delivery\, Devine knows how to sculpt atmosphere on the opening song “This Time.” The minimal sound design builds with swells of warm tones and gently strummed guitar\, evolving into a beautiful tune.” —Mpls.St.Paul Magazine\n\n\n \n\nThank you to our sponsors\, partners\, & neighbors: \nSummit Brewing • DuNord Social Spirits • RKR Ganja Beverages • Nobool Presents • KFAI 90.3FM • Mpls.St.Paul Magazine • The Zen Arcade • Longfellow Rising • Lake Street Council • Minnesota State Arts Board • Moon Palace Books • Arbeiter Brewing\n\n \nThe Award-Winning* Under the Canopy series at The Hook & Ladder Theater returns with its uniquely seasonal urban footprint to the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis in 2025. *Voted Best in MN 2021 by Star Tribune readers.\n \nThe Hook has committed to having a food truck Under the Canopy throughout the 2025 season for our guests. Inspired by Umphrey’s McGee\, Snarky Puppy\, Lettuce\, Phish and many others\, their innovative original songs and ambitious interpretations of popular covers offer an impressive blend of jazz fusion\, prog rock\, jam rock and more\, all with the consistent underlying grooves of funk. Wurk has opened for acts including The Motet and Andy Frasco & the U.N. and helped pack venues across the Midwest. Described by Isthmus Magazine as “summer-jam-perfect” and two-time recipient of the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA) Artist of the Year Award (2019\, 2022)\, Wurk fills the gap between complexity and groove\, impressing fans and keeping them dancing all night.Frank Laufenberg uses his electric guitar to provide funky rhythms and dense chord structure while filling the role of principal songwriter and vocalist. He leads the charge alongside Daniel Haschke (saxophones/flute) who hypes the crowds by leaping off of the stage and spreading his infectious joy to the dance floor. Max Morkri’s blend of solid grooving and intricate drum chops and Jory Carlin’s powerful bass lines glue the band together. Carl Hipenbecker (trumpet/synth/vocals) and Brandon Jensen (keys/synth) offer a diverse range of skills to make each tune fresh and unique. Most of Wurk’s members grew up in Mount Horeb\, WI\, just west of Madison; their shared background creates the band’s closeness and ability to communicate complicated ideas musically.\n—\nJOJO GREEN Roots FusionJoJo Green has a hot\, fresh take on a cozy\, nostalgic sound. Led by wailing diva\, Sharisse Germain\, this high-energy band performs a mix of originals and unique takes on classic and modern covers driven rhythmically by funk bass and blues guitar\, decorated by a dancing\, ripping saxophone. JoJo Green’s live show has been lauded as “Bombastic!” by Mostly Minnesota Music\, and their music praised as “…a band to see!” by AmericanaHighways.com. This powerhouse band will never fail to get you on your feet and leave you wanting more.—Sunshine and the NightwalkersSunshine and The Night Walkers is an eight piece funk and blues band from Minneapolis\, Mn. The band is the project of Sunshine Parker who has been writing and performing in the Twin Cities for twenty years. With songs ranging from pure sweaty Funk to a Klezmer bop they intend to keep you guessing while you groove to the thick horns and vocals. Born In The Bedroom their second full length album is coming out summer of 2025. Born In The Basement\, their first full length album\, released in the summer of 2022.

SUMMARY:** CANCELED ** Messer Chups with Black Widows\, & DJ Demonica
DESCRIPTION:EVENT DETAILS \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\n \n \n\n	\n\n	\n \n \n \n EVENT DESCRIPTION \n\n	\n \n\n	\n	\nWe regret to inform you that\, due to unforeseen circumstances\, the event featuring Messer Chups with Black Widows and DJ Demonica\, scheduled for Saturday\, October 11\, has been canceled. \nAll ticket purchases will be automatically refunded at the original point of purchase. Please allow a few business days for the refund to process. \nWe sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support. \nIf you have any questions or concerns\, feel free to contact us. \nThank you\,The Hook and Ladder Team \nMesser Chups\nwith Black Widows & DJ Demonica\n\n\nWhile Messer Chups’ mostly instrumental sound is hard to neatly categorize\, it’s safe to say that it would be embraced by fans of rockabilly\, horror punk\, vintage surf records\, Italian slasher films\, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult\, Pulp Fiction\, lounge music\, the theremin\, The Cramps\, and the theme song from The Munsters. Their catchy music combines surf\, vintage Russian melodies\, rare film samples from the 50s and 60s\, scratchy historical recordings\, and lounge loops. Live\, they explode with garage-punk intensity\, all played against a video-collage backdrop of mid-century trashy cult and horror movie clips featuring Russ Meyer and Ed Wood\, and superstars like Vampira and Bela Lugosi in a zombie mash-up.\n \n\nBlack Widows is a surf-psych-punk band from Minneapolis\, Minnesota. BW twangy surf guitar\, easy sleazy bass grooves\, riot grrrl vocals\, and slick beats will move you outta your seats \n\n+ DJ Demonica spinning vinyl
