The Hook & Ladder Theater, Fulton Brewing and MNSpin are pleased to announce a very special reception and showcase on Thursday, September 12th in the The Hook and Ladder’s new Mission Room for the opening of, The Red Chair Series, a collection of portraiture by local photographer, John Botkin, documenting the many performing artists that have shared the stage at The Hook & Ladder Theater and Mission Room over the last year. The celebration includes performances by newly announced MNSpin artists, Adam Kiesling and Becky Kapell.
The Red Chair Series (RCS) is the portrait work of local photographer, John Botkin, who has unflaggingly volunteered his time to document the many performing artists that have shared the stage at The Hook & Ladder Theater and Mission Room over the last year. The celebration with include performances by newly announced MNSpin artists, Adam Kiesling and Becky Kapell.
The RCS started coincidentally behind the scenes of the 8th Annual Roots, Rock & Deep-Blues Festival in 2018, when Botkin and his production partner, Jim Petrykowski, stumbled across an old, red, wingback chair in a corner of an unused firehouse office. This discovery and documentation it will  showcase the series from its inception to its finale at the 9th Annual Roots, Rock, and Deep Blues Festival, July 2019.
Hook & Ladder Theater Executive Director, Chris Mozena commented, “We deeply appreciate the work John and Jim created to document the role we playing in serving local, national, and international artists over the past year. We are honored to present this work as part of the Hook & Ladder’s 3rd Anniversary Weekend (9/12-14) Likewise, as an organization, we strive to highlight the careers of hardworking, Minnesota-based artists like the ones featured in the Red Chair Series. Please join us for this exciting display of some great Minnesota musicians.”
A rotating collection of Botkin’s prints from the RCS will also be on display at The Hook & Ladder and Mission Room throughout the fall.
