Join us as the Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins return to the Hook & Ladder for their annual Yuletide Sweater Ball!  In addition to hosts PWPP, special guests Sans Souci plus Doug Otto & The Getaways will be joining in on the festivities.  These 3 talented groups will keep the holiday party jumping throughout the evening.

Don’t let the name fool you! The Pistol Whippin’ Party Penguins are not a violent group of flightless aquatic birds looking for a party – rather they’re 5 self-proclaimed gentlemen with 2 guitars, a mandolin, a bucket of fiddles, an upright bass, a banjo, and 4-part vocal harmony, combining folk, rock, blues, bluegrass, and some fully-loaded stage banter. Their combination of folk, rock, blues, bluegrass, and stage banter creates an experience that everyone can enjoy! After a brief hiatus, Sans Souci Quartet returns to the stage with their unique blend of bluegrass, folk, rock, and innovation. The instruments are traditional, the voices authentic, and the words sometimes plaintive, but the arrangements are always unique and refreshing.
Doug Otto and the Getaways are known for playing the classic country and blues music of the old greats as well as their own compositions. They took root in the Minneapolis music scene, and have gained a steady following in the greater Midwest.  The Getaways possess a wide-ranging repertoire with a sound that is introspective and melancholy, as well as upbeat, danceable and celebratory.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
