NANILO with Yigitcan Eryaman ~ Music In The House Series
This installment of our Music in the House Series features NANILO with special guest Yigitcan Eryaman. NANILO is a trio made up of experienced vocalists and ethnographic researchers, Sarina Partridge, Alia Jeraj, and Sarah Larsson. They sing songs of migration, with an emphasis in traditional women’s music from Eastern Europe, Western India, and the Jewish diaspora. Nimble performers with tight harmonies and complex rhythms spinning stories of love, longing, and liberation.
Yigitcan Eryaman is a classically-trained Turkish guitarist, building a reputation in the Twin Cities for innovative, sonically-adventurous arrangements of Turkish and Balkan folk songs. Yigitcan was a 2019 Cedar Commissions artist, for which he composed a suite of songs exploring the seasons of Minnesota through an immigrant’s eyes. Yigitcan’s ensemble, Üsküdar Eclectic, performs regularly at Finnish Bistro in St. Paul and released their debut album in 2019, featuring renowned vocalist Brenna MacCrimmon.
