With little fanfare, Dan Israel releases his 16th album, simply titled “DI”, a mere 7 months after the release of his acclaimed 2019 album “Social Media Anxiety Disorder”. Recorded at Sparta Sound with Rich Mattson, featuring Dan’s core band of David J. Russ and Mike Lane, along with keyboardist Al Oikari and guest drummer (on 3 songs) Chris Petrack, “DI” is a 9-song return-to-basics triumph for Israel, featuring melodic and memorable rock songs with hooks and guitar riffs aplenty (many provided by underrated guitar ace Mattson). Dan Israel has gotten especially prolific since he quit his day job in 2017 – and “DI shows that Israel’s dedication to quality (and not simply quantity) songwriting has not waned in the least.
J. Bell & The Lazy Susan Band is an always evolving rock & roll outfit from Minnesota. Fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist j. bell, the LSB formed in 2001 and are releasing their 7th album “Unreliable Witness” on April 4th, 2020. Known for guitar driven rock with BIG 3 part vocal harmonies served up on a bed of B3 organ blasts sprinkled with a horn section (the Lazy Ass Brass), this new album features the band’s strongest songwriting to date. Influenced by artists like Tom Petty, Steve Earl, Old 97’s, the Jayhawks, Soul Asylum & Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers, JBLSB delivers straight ahead rock with alt-country and blues roots.
