Cedric Burnside, grandson of the Legendary R.L. Burnside and son of drummer Calvin Jackson, is a four-time winner of the prestigious Blues Music Awards “Drummer of the Year” award and is regarded as one of the best drummers in the world. He was nominated for a Grammy with his 2015 release Descendents of Hill Country. The show at The Hook will be the exclusive Twin Cities party for his new release Benton County Relic, which is rapidly climbing up the blues charts.
Cedric has also played and recorded with countless musicians, including Junior Kimbrough, Kenny Brown, North Mississippi Allstars, Burnside Exploration, Widespread Panic, Jimmy Buffett, T Model Ford, Bobby Rush, Honey Boy Edwards, Hubert Sumlin, Galactic, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, among many others.
Chicago guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Nick Moss is a bona fide bluesman down to his soul, a 30-year veteran of the city’s take-no-prisoners blues scene. Moss paid his dues gigging in Chicago’s rough and tumble West and South side blues clubs under the tutelage of some of the city’s greatest blues luminaries. Moss has received 21 Blues Music Award nominations and has shared stages with Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Gary Clark Jr., David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and many others. His 2018 Alligator Records release The High Cost of Low Living is a Blues Award nominee.
“Nick Moss is at the top of the blues world…ambitious and intense…he can play traditional blues with the best.” Blues Revue
Dennis Gruenling is considered among today’s best blues harmonica players. His high-energy, full-throttle playing has earned him comparisons to James Cotton. Gruenling, who plays both chromatic and diatonic harmonica, has been awarded the title of “Best Modern Blues Harmonica Player” three years in a row by Real Blues Magazine.
