Triple-Single Double-Fun Release Party

The Hook & Ladder is excited to announce the return of Wild Age, a twin-city psych-pop band, for the exclusive public showing their brand new music video! Joining them in the Hook’s new Mission Room is St. Paul singer-songwriter, AP Simpson and local 6 piece indie rock/dream pop/shoe-gaze band, Michael.

Minneapolis pysch-pop outfit Wild Age specialize in breezy, hook-driven tunes that are as concise as they are catchy. The band’s 2018 release, Sea of Health, dealt with feelings of isolation, mental illness and a general uncertainty about the future, juxtaposing these dark lyrical themes with sunny, earworm choruses and pop-informed melodies. Ever prolific, the band entered the studio immediately after that release to record three brand-new singles: On Tv, The Mine, and Toe Tag. These three vignettes find primary songwriter McCoy Seitz parsing his thoughts on a range of topics from celebrity to gun violence to a soundtrack of familiar-but-fresh nostalgia rock provided by bandmates Blair Ransom, Matt Ahart, August Ogren, and Leng Moua.
“The music of Saint Paul-based vocalist/guitarist A.P. SIMPSON (Alexander Preston Simpson) might be best described as psych-tinged Nick Drake. Open tunings and haunting vocal melodies are the centerpiece of Simpson’s solo debut Newly Almost Fearless, which spent three weeks on the NACC 200 this past summer. While some elements have carried over from his previous project, William Within, Simpson’s latest direction is all electric and features a talented new supporting cast: Andy Schupp (Purple Funk Metropolis) on guitar/vocals, Mitch Schumer (Grape Whales) on bass/vocals, and Tarek Abdelqader (PFM) on drums.”
Michael is a 6 piece indie rock/dream pop/shoegaze band from Minneapolis. Grown out of the bedroom studio project of Michael Voller, the group has expanded to include Sylvia Jennings on vocals and keyboard, Dillon Marchus on lead guitar, Donny Hoover on bass and vocals, Sean Levine on keyboard and vocals, and Lars Oslund on drums. Rest your eyes on the band, Michael
