2 YEAR MILESTONES
We are very proud that The Firehouse Performing Arts Center (FPAC) and it’s Hook & Ladder Theater have recently celebrated (2) years of non-profit operations, in September of 2018.
In just these first (2) years, the Hook has proudly presented in excess of (4,000) local, regional and national performing artists across our various indoor/outdoor stages, and have already paid out nearly $500,000.00 in artist performance fees!
But, did you know:
- The 2-year, performing artist and payment figure milestones were achieved without any public (city, county, state or federal) funding? Instead relying on individual ticket purchases, individual DONATIONS and beverage sales.
- That these numbers were largely achieved with a group of local VOLUNTEERS instead of a paid staff?
- That we rely on YOU and your GTMD contribution to continue this important Minnesotan cultural development work?
EXPANSION – INTRODUCING, THE MISSION ROOM
Due to continued unmet artist/community demand for performance spaces in the TwinCities, in 2019 FPAC and The Hook & Ladder Theater are poised to expand on their commitment to local performing artists (having already served 4,000 local, regional and national artists, paying out nearly $500,000.00 in artist fees, to date) by expanding operations to include another performance space inside FPAC called, The Mission Room.
The Mission Room will be an even more intimate and accessible (100 guest) community, performance & gallery space designed to serve local visual, literary, spoken-word, singer-songwriter and multi-media performance artists, as well as host community meetings, local organizational fundraisers and special events.
We have set the GiveMN goal of raising $10,000.00 (50% of the projected cost of this project) by end of fundraising on November 15th, for the basic interior remodel, bringing up to city code, preparing acoustic treatments, stage buildout and artist/audience aesthetic improvements.
With your help in achieving this 2018 Give to the Max Day goal, we will be open, exhibiting and presenting more original local works as early as March, 2019!
We’d like to thank each and every participating donor, artist and audience member for your continued support of FPAC, The Hook & Ladder and now The Mission Room, in person on Thursday, November 15th!
Please join us on Thursday, Nov 15th, at The Hook & Ladder for a very special GTMD evening of performance by a large number of local artists wanting to show their own support for FPAC.
This special GTMD show will be FREE and feature sets by curator/host Ben Cook-Feltz along with special guests Becky Kapell, Doug Collins, M French, Jillian Rae, Mother Banjo, Jon Rodine, Ben Miller, Nikki & Rich Rue, Art Vandalay, Niki Beverly, Haley Rydell and many more!
